Swipe File: The Veil And The Suicide Forest

Well, he has just discovered that the trailer British horror film The Forest has been released, or The Forest of Suicides in Spanish. And it looks rather similar indeed.

Swiftly followed by the announcement of a new film, starring Jessica Alba and Thomas Jane called The Veil, with a similar look and feel…

Talking to Spanish media, Torres says  "The feeling moves from absolute bewilderment to impotence" and that he  "thought nothing of it at first – they had a similar title but the stories may be quite different…. It was just that as I saw trailers and reviews, I realized that there was more that. Besides the similarity of titles… they look very similar to the comics.

He won't be suing as he sees no point to it and that suing in the USA is beyond him. He worries that it may negatively effect the sales of his comics.  And that IDW have been "disappointing and discouraging" regarding any action. But that despite having discussions regarding film adaptations of the comics, he thinks he can discard those now. "Nevertheless, any search on Google shows our comics on the front page."

"I keep receiving calls and questions about the rights of this or that comic I've done with others. The Westwood Witches  Roman Ritual … all have received requests for information about possible adjustments. You get a new comic and the two weeks received an email from a producer. But they are siren songs… I do not even pay attention to them. I won't be surprised to see movies out there called The Witches of Washington or Rituals In Rome…"
