Now Scribd Goes Subscription-Only From Monday, No More Comic Download Sales

ComicsBlogTriFrameArchie Digital and Madefire, Comic Blitz, Google Play and now Scribd. It's a big day for digital comic book news.

And next up is the word that Scribd is changing it's business model. Best known for it's all-you-can-eat subscription service which includes thousands of prominent comic books including those from Marvel as well as plenty of other media, it does also sell individual permanent downloads.

Comics Beat leaks a letter sent to content providers setting out how things are going to change, including the paragraph

we will be closing the Scribd retail store, effective Monday, November 16.  We encourage all publishers that had ebooks previously available in the Scribd retail store to join our subscription service.

Though people who had previously individually purchased ebooks from Scribd will still be able to download them.
