Antony Johnston And Shari Chankhamma's Codename Baboushka At #ImageExpo

CI7VXqbWsAAJ9m_Peter S Svensson sends us notes from Image Expo:

From England we meet Antony Johnston. If you're familiar with his work, you'll know he likes spy fiction, and kickass Russian women.

What a coincidence, his new book is Codename Baboushka –  The Conclave of Death.  And the artist is Shari Chankhamma, who was the colorist of his previou Image comic, Fuse.

The comic asks, what if the sexy Russian femme fatale could be the the hero? It's a pulp espionage, a British action comic like Modesty Blaise, Avengers and James Bond. What sets this apart is simple.

"The enigmatic heiress of a noble Russian line – socialite by day, assassin by night… Blackmailed by the US government to carry out dirty jobs even the CIA can't sanction!"

She's secretly formerly a Russian mafia member, but the agency she gets dragged into knows who the Contessa used to be. This book has brains and explosions. Issue one is released in October, with standard variant covers by Tula Lotay, Annie Wu, Leila Del Duca, Kate Leth and more.
