The Adult Swim Party At New York Comic Con Was All At Sea

The queue stretched far along pier 81 an hour before boarding as people huddled together, zipping up coats and wrapping around scarves to fight off the ice-cold breeze flying off the Hudson. Eventually the ramp came down and everyone was a issued with a ticket for a free sandwich as they boarded for the three hour boat party which promised nighttime views of the NYC skyline and an up-close look at Lady Liberty herself. Fans were offered free photo opportunities but most went straight to the sandwiches. Everyone seemed to be excited despite the pricey beer (which nobody could really complain about because the boat trip was free) and it wasn't long before the yacht left port and was cruising down the Hudson.

An hour in when everyone was suitably intoxicated, the secret musical guest that had been much hyped was revealed to be Hip-Hop double act Run The Jewels who delivered a thundering set that had the boat physically rocking under the hammering of feet. Shortly after the set the crowds dispersed to the bow as the Tyrannic sailed past the Statue Of Liberty, which caused an outbreak of "USA USA" chanting: a novelty to this Brit. As the night went on the house DJ reclaimed the reigns and the more people drank, the more the dance floor filled for our trip back into port. Adult Swim laid on a hell of an evening which very much lived up to its promise and was a real treat for fans, topping it off by gifting everyone their very own flask in memory of their participation in the Tyrannic's maiden voyage. I'm sure it'll be heading out again next year!
