Witold Ciona writes,

Dead Bushi, an ongoing webcomic, is now on Comixology, and I have an exclusive interview with its creator. Me.

Ciona: Hi.

Ciona: Hello.

C: Tell us something about yourself.

C: My name is Ciona, I am an independent comic creator from Silesia region, in Poland. I am creator of Dead Bushi, an ongoing postapocalyptic-paranormal-samurai-western webcomic which was just published thanks to Comixology Submit.

C: Dead Bushi is a story of a physically handicapped girl. She has some telekinetic and telepathic powers but she is still unaware of them. There is that guardian- ghoul who is travelling with her. He is not a regular ghoul, he stinks and occasionally falls apart but beside that he is an embodiment of one of seven eternals, who are playing some kind of game, using humanity to achieve their goals. Our hero is the one that got bored with that game. He tries to back out but it is not an easy thing to do.

C: I read both published issues and some that were not published yet. Don't you think that pacing in your comic is boringly slow?

C: Yes and no. I don't think it is boring. It is intentionally slow. The main protagonist doesn't know much about the world he lives in and so does reader. The world of Dead Bushi constantly evolves in my head. Something terrible happened a long time ago, so long that nobody cares anymore. It turns out that we are like roaches and thanks to that a new world emerges from the ruins, and the latter are nothing more than part of a new landscape. It is slow because I want the reader to feel that new world. It is a completely new place for him. I want the reader to get used to fact that [for example] ghouls are part of this new society. Hated and degraded but still.

C: Do you know the whole story or is it some kind of improvisation?

C: A bit of both. I know milestones for the main storyline and I know how and when the story ends, but I want each issue to have its own smaller and complete story. I am trying to be two issues ahead of what is being published so I don't really know what will happen in six months.

C: Any plans for the future?

C: As long as Dead Bushi creating stays in the "hobby zone" I want to maintain a bimonthly publishing schedule for comixology and a weekly page update for deadbushi.com. If at some point it starts selling well I'd like to launch a patreon campaign for printed and colored TPB. I have a lot of ideas and plans to expand that story even outside of comic but for now, my day job kind of limits me.

C: Doesn't it feel weird to interview myself?

C: Yeah it feels weird, especially the seat swapping part, I think it is stupid.

C: Still better than sitting in front of a mirror.

C: Probably. Maybe I will try that one out next time we meet
