Warren Ellis And Mike Allred Creating A Comic About The Bacardi Family – For Bacardi

Looks like Warren has gotten around to that one. Kinda.

Warren Ellis and artist Michael Allred have been paid by rum manufacturers Bacardi to create a comic about the origin of the brand and the history of the family who first distilled and more importantly marketed it in, and from, Cuba, focusing on the work of Emilio Bacardí, son of the founder, and his work for Cuban independence from Spain against his father's wishes, exiled and then later becoming mayor, appointed by the then occupying American forces.

Whether this will counterbalance with the Barcardi financing of the anti-Castro movement in the subsequent century, is still to be seen….

The Spirit Of Bacardi will be released digitally on August 6th.
