A Comic Show – MASSIVE WEDNESDAY!

Aaron Haaland of A Comic Shop in Orlando, Florida, writes;

Hey Fandom! It's me again, Aaron, and I read a massive amount of comics for this week's A Comic Show! If there's any I left out, it's because of volume not quality! I did enjoy it all, like a kid Halloween night overindulging. Marvel had their big finale of Infinity, Image had Remender's new Black Science, and DC gave us more Forever Evil and Zero Year tie-ins.

First, I'd like to say that I really dug Infinity. The road to Infinity in both of Hickman's Avengers titles deftly set up the crossover event and the ending (that I'm not gonna spoil) sowed up his threads while handing the baton to Fraction for Inhumanity. And speaking of Fraction, we got another issue of Hawkeye! I really love how this book feels so organic, we had two Hawkeye's and now they kinda have two titles within the one book. I'm down to follow Kate and Clint on different coasts. Venom and Spider-man's roles are totally flipped now, Venom's the good guy and Spidey's the sinister one. AND Slot just kept Spock feeling fresh for another arc. Oh, and I don't spoil who all died in Uncanny Avengers, but the mainstream media may tomorrow morning. Beware.

Remender's Black Science is a return to form for him. That pulpy two-fisted down home science fiction I loved in his Fear Agent is back with some of that Sea of Red horror and the outlandishness of Frankencastle! I'll offer money back in my shop because I realize it's a tough sell, but it's totally relatable- the protagonist is just as broken and damaged as all of us regardless of the genre and setting. New Saga, Walking Dead, and Pretty Deadly proved what a powerhouse of creativity Image is one any given week. And as a retailer, I really appreciated the new printings of Pretty Deadly #1 and Sex Criminals #1 and 2! Legendary (yeah the movie guys) have an original hardcover out with Max Brooks, Mark Waid, and Shane Davis! Shadow Walk was a good idea executed well. The shadow of the valley of death is a place, not just a metaphor and this spec-ops team uses science and supernatural artifacts (like the head of John the Baptist) to fight demons.

Finally, I talked about some of these DC books. Justice League Dark starts Forever Evil's Blight. Zero Year's Flash tie-ins does a pre-powered Barry Allen in a super hero's city before Arrow copies them. And Red Lantern's continues to be the New 52's most improved book.

Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy some comics, and get out to your local comic shop for some Black Friday deals!
