Battlefield Earth, By Pruett And Perkins, For The Church Of Scientology

We ran a few teasers earlier today. A new comics project by Joe Pruett, Mike Perkins and Laura Villari, with titles such as Endangered and Subjugate. But what was it to be?

Turns out it is a graphic novel adaptation of Mitt Romney’s favourite novel Battlefield Earth by L Ron Hubbard to be published by the Church Of Scientology.

An interesting jump from Joe Pruett, a man who began working in comics as Bob Burden‘s assistant on Flaming Carrot. Or from Mike Perkins even.

The thing about Battlefield Earth is that… it’s not very good. The thing about Pruett, Perkins and Villari is that they are all rather good. Will they be able to translate the material into something that’s, you know, readable?

It’s got a better chance than it ever has before.

And also, why do I get the feeling Orson Scott Card was just the internet warming up?
