He Man And The Postmasters Of The Universe

Matty Collector is an online store from Mattel Inc. taregting collectors with exclusive He-Man figures and similar unavailable anywhere else. But it has grown a reputation for high shipping costs and long delivery times, especially for international customers. And they aren't happy.

SO, last year packages from Matty reportedly took around 4-6 weeks to arrive in Canada. Some found it quicker to get Matty to deliver to a USA custiemr and get that customer to reshio it to Canada.

Looking at the tracking on packages, Canadian customers started to believe their packages were being diverted through Sweden. When asked about this Mattel denied it, saying;

However, aside from the box having a sticker from Sweden, they were able to get other proof such as this tracking information from Canada Post showing that the package did indeed come via Sweden.

This year all international shipping was converted to DHL shipping. Quicker but more expensive. For the shipping cost, Mattel has this to say

So shipping cost is dependent on where customers live. But take a look at these people who live in the UK, Philippines and Canada.

So looks like there's only two shipping costs, one domestic and one international. Let's see how they compute shipping cost.

Everytime you add an item in their shipping cart, something small (like a figure stand) or something big (like an action figure), you get an added $8 bump on your international shipping cost, even when the standardMattel store is offering less. But they do offer free shipping over $50 if you live in the USA.

So, on top of having more expensive shipping than the Hasbro toy shop, the Mattel shop, and most other toystores like BBTS, they are even more expensive than Sideshow collectibles.

As well as Mattel adding $8 to the shipping cost to most items in their shopping cart (no matter how big or small), this month they were charging customers an extra $8 for a free map – basically a folded piece of paper – that they were giving to subscribers.

So that's $13.75 international shipping for one item, $21 for 2 item, and $30 for three items. When asked about why shipping in March was so much more expensive, they initially replied;

When more people started to complain, Mattel changed their tune;

Subscribers are also encouraged to ask questions, but they find threads are also deleted or ignored.

Or they are encouraged to ask customer services;

So, you know. Not happy. But since these items are available nowhere else, where can they go? Aside from, you know, stop collecting He-Man toys, I suppose.

Matty Collector subscribers are the reason the site exists, and many of them are not based in the USA. The question is, will they make a stand? Or submit to their He-Man addiction and just cave in?
