Bella Trona Matrix Created By Sergio Aragones And The Fake Stan Lee

Mark Robert Bourne writes for Bleeding Cool;

Each year since they started doing this panel at San Diego Comic Con, not only has the room grown and attendance doubled, this is singularly the funniest panel of any panel ever presented at a Comic Con. Saturday's edition was no disappointment; everyone laughed – except for the old battle-axe in front of us holding her ears closed. The room was in hysterics from the second they started until the very last. Panelist Keith Knight, Scott Shaw and the amazing Sergio Aragones sat at the drawing table putting random ideas from the mind of Mark Evanier down on paper.

The panel began before it "began" with the applauded entrance of Sergio Aragones who had recently returned to the Con circuit after some medical issues. The room welcomed him back and Aragones kindly responded that it was slow going but he was BACK AT THE CON!

For those who don't know what Quick Draw is, this is similar to Pictionary. Evanier gives the panelists something to draw in a game like format. For example, he had them draw which gay Comic character they thought would come out of the closet next. Then the artists each draw. Shaw drew the Thing and the Hulk telling a quip about how with the recent death of Ernest Borgnine and his 72 day marriage to Ethel Merman, he thought "that's like a gay marriage between the Thing and the Hulk. Keith Knight drew Snoopy and Woodstock, and Aragones, originally drawing The Thing also, added a very fem Mickey Mouse.

Another game was something that Conan O'Brien started by combining two celebrities and what their offspring would look like. This, of course, had a "What would 2 comic characters offspring look like?" spin. The audience picked the characters and the artist drew them. Aragones got "If Iron Man had a child with Vamperella" and the outcome had the audience in a laughing fit.

The highlight had to be an appearance by Stan Lee, but he didn't show up …AGAIN! But "fake" Stan Lee was there in his place. With the assistance of the audience "Fake" Stan came up with 3 brand new Super-Hero creations that he would get all the credit for creating. One that was created was an English Bell Ringer.

"Mild mannered Marsha Millstein was an English Bell Ringer until one day a freak accident fuses the bells to her hands and gives her the proportionate strength of a Bell Ringer!! Let's call her "Bella Trona Matrix!!" explained Fake Stan Lee.

"He thought you said "Ham's" retorted Scott Shaw.

I wouldn't recommend this panel to anyone simply for the reason that if it gets too big, I'm going to have to wake up at 5am to get in line for it! That aside, it is a hilarious unrestrained hour of humor and art. The panel ended with a rousing standing ovation to the returning son Sergio Aragones. It was marvelous to see everyone appreciating what we all know about the amazingly Quick Draw talent of Sergio Aragones.
