Rafael Grampá Creates New Gay Superhero For Brazilian TV – The Gay Laxyus

As we've noted, all current media seems obsessed with a gay Green Lantern or a Gay X-Man or usually both.

None more than Brazilian TV programme Fantastico, which recently ran a piece on the companies' news, mixing up Alan Scott and Hal Jordan on the way, bringing in Wertham allegations against Batman and Grant Morrison's Playboy article describing Batman as "Super Gay". Though they found it hard to find dissenting voices top the news.

They even brought in Bat-artist Rafael Grampá to comment on the whole affair and, more unusually, asked him to create a new gay superhero character for the show. Which he then did, dubbing him The Gay Laxyus, and moreover creating him as a cross dressing gay superhero character. Which, while it may encapsulate certain unfortunate stereotypes, was presented in a rather positive and celebratory fashion.

Rafael is quoted as saying "If you already have a straight character who dresses in blue and has a red cape and plastic boots, he has to be even more blatant. He will defend the gays who get pitbulls in the street. He'll be watching."
