Avatar Plug of the Week: Atmospherics Color GN

Avatar Plug of the Week: Atmospherics Color GNA classic science fiction conspiracy written by Warren Ellis gets new life, in fully-painted color, thanks to the brand-new, remastered edition of ATMOSPHERICS, which hits store shelves everywhere today.

Illustrated by Ken Meyer Jr., ATMOSPHERICS is a terrifying alien tale of a mystery woman questioned by equally mysterious authorities as a witness… or perhaps an active participant… of cattle mutilation-style mass murder in the town of Helen. With so many civilians eviscerated, and a handful of FBI agents slain, the sole survivor Bridget Rhinehart is the very definition of a "person of interest." Are her claims of a malevolent extraterrestrial threat real, or coerced? Is she a monster herself, a murderess fueled by drugs and rage, or is she a scapegoat?

The original development of ATMOSPHERICS is explained by Warren Ellis in a special essay added as a bonus feature to the graphic novel. Such interesting musings from a modern master on UFO lore! "What do aliens need a cow's cored-out arsehole for? Are you telling me that they can develop magical propulsion systems but can't clone cows? …are Earth cow arses especially delicious?" And the final, ultimate question about cattle mutilations that led to the creation of ATMOSPHERICS: "Why don't they do this to people?"

Painter Ken Meyer Jr. provided his insight into the creative process and the remastering of ATMOSPHERICS in an interview we posted back in November. You can check it out by clicking here.

We've provided an Issuu preview of the graphic novel below. Enjoy!
