What Does 75 Tons Of Comics Look Like?

The Times Herald calls it the world's largest online comic book store

Not sure how Mile High Comics would stack up against that, but NewKadia does have a lot of comic books for sale. Nearly a million.

What Does 75 Tons Of Comics Look Like?

The paper outlines his shift for a small comic collector, to finding that he could make a profit buying and selling on eBay, to setting up his own online business.

"When I first saw the building I wondered if it was strong enough to support 75 tons of comic books," said owner Jim Drucker. "But I found out they once made soap here, and that stuff was very heavy when they boxed it up. We had to have a great imagination to see through the condition that it was in to where we are today, but I had this vision that if we did it right it would work very well."

But it's not just his own comics he sells, and he has a rather unique way of selling on commission. The longer the comics take to sell, the less both he, and the comics' owners, get.

"You send us your comics, they get graded, and when it sells the proceeds get split two ways. Every day the book goes unsold, the price decreases. It's the customer playing chicken, and that's why we have such high traffic on our site, because people know the price changes daily."

And as of yet, I don't think anyone has CGC slabbed an iPad.
