India Wakes Up To Comics by Mayank Khurana

India Wakes Up To Comics by Mayank KhuranaMayank Khurana writes for Bleeding Cool;

And now behold the "Minicon".

This year has been a pathbreaking year for Comics in India. We always knew there were comic fans in India , a residual effect of a thriving comic culture in the 90's, but they never had an outlet for release.   Come 2011 and that all changed, with the first Indian Comicon.  After a brief taste of all that might come at the hands of the Indian Comic Con, appetites of geeks all over Delhi have been stoked. A fire is set in the hearts of all of us. A fire Comic Addicts has chosen to channel. The Minicon is the first of many such projects Comic Addicts intends to launch. An attempt to unite art, comic books, manga, fans and music in one gala blitz that will steamroll through the waiting crowd and leave Delhi gasping for more.

Presented in association with FoG, the Minicon will feature Gaming tournaments, multiple state of the art gaming consoles, Live sketch and coloring from comic book houses, Anime AMV's, Anime and Cosplay games in one turbocharged four hour package. Its not a formal affair be sure about that. Cosplay is encouraged and perpetuated!

The festival features guest artists and writers from the Indian Comic book Industry brought together to interact with the fans in a unique atmosphere.

For the uninformed, Comic Addicts is a fast growing artist fan collective/revolution based out of the internet. The MiniCon is an effort by Comic Addicts to reach out to the young and the restless and bring them together under one roof. The hardcore geek will get opportunity aplenty to win comic book memorabilia and other freebies. The casual reader will get a chance to kick back and relax at the 1 Boulevard lounge in exalted company, while the party animal will get a chance to be a part of comic book carnival like no other.

The MiniCon beckons all, this is one Sunday you are not likely to soon forget. After all when was the last time you attended a carnival in the heart of Delhi?

More details around the event can be found at : www.facebook.com/comicaddicts

I am attending. Hope to see you there!
