A Few New Comics Of Note For January 2012So what's new in January?

Amulet Books seem to be publishing Explorer The Mystery Boxes, a graphic novel anthology in hardcover and softcover that seems to be a thematic sequel to the Flight anthologies at Image Comics.

Created by Kazu Kibuishi, Jason Caffoe, Emily Carroll, Stuart Livingston, Johane Matte, Dave Roman, Rad Sechrist, Raina Telgemeier and more, each story is about a box – and what's inside. For all ages.

Avatar are to publish David Lapham's Ferals #1 – more on that to come in a short while. And they are remastering Warren Ellis and Ken Meyter's Atmospherics in colour, that originally ran from Claiber back in the day.

Archie launches Kevin Keller #1, as mentioned previously, while Antarctic publish the thematic opposite title, Nazi Zombies #1.

IDW launch Danger Girl Revolver #1 and Infestations 2 #1 as well as two ongoing Transformers comic, Robots In Disguise #1 and More Than Meets The Eye #1 and, in a very different tone, the Womanthology Hardcover and the Mark Twain Tales Of Mystery.

A Few New Comics Of Note For January 2012We'd previously mentioned from Image, Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips' Fatale #'1, David Hine and Shaky Kane's Bulletproof Coffin Disinterred #1, Luna's Whispers #1 and Nancy Goes To Hell #1, but they also bring us, finally, Ted McKeever's Mondo #1. There's also Prophet, by Brandon Graham and Simon Roy not at a number #1 but at #21, following on from the titles original numbering back in the day.

Dark Horse bring you a new Lobster Johnson: The Burning Hand #1, the previously mentioned Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic: War #1 and King Conan Phoenix On The Sword #1 and something called Dark Matter...

Bongo have a new Simpsons comic out, Simpsons Illustrated, collecting previously published comics at a lower price point.

First:Second has Silence Of Our Friends, the civil rights graphic novel by Mark Long, Jim Demonakos and Nate Powell which already seems to have "Eisner nomination" written down the side. About who a black family and a hite family find a dual purpose in 1967 Texas to help free five college students.

A Few New Comics Of Note For January 2012Markosia have The Superfun Adventures of Jax, an all ages fantasy graphic novel that's all a bit Studio Ghibli.

Chris Wooding and Cassandra Diaz have created a new comedy fantasy graphic novel, Pandemonium.

Dynamite pile on with Robert Rodi and Fritz Casas' Kirby Genesis: Dragonsbane #1, Ande Parks Esteve Polls give us Lone Ranger #1 and there's the new Vampirella Vs Dracula #1 by Joe Harris.

As predicted, Humanoides finally give us the english translation of Terry Dodson's Muse. And Stephan Nilson, Kevin Stokes and Charles Pritchett's Extinction graphic novel from Frozen Beach Studio looks at a virus that kills 90% of the purpose, and the mission to save the remaining 10%.

Marvel bring you Scarlet Spider #1 and Wolverine And The X-Men Omega #1, Boom publish Peanuts #1 (with a Charles Schultz cover),

And in reprints, Boom! Are republishing Grant Morrison and Ian Gibson's Steed And Mrs Peel Avengers series, while Marvel are collecting Strikeforce Morituri in a massive trade paperback, with a 99 cent reprint of issue 1 to tempt the new reader.

Oh and there's that DC collection of every 52 issue 1 in hardcover. Kill someone with it.
