Matthew Vaughn To Make Jonathan Ross And Tommy Lee Edwards' The Golden Age

He's been making films about young superheroes recently. Both X-Men First Class and Kick Ass.

But now, he looks like he's going to the old.

Deadline reports that Matthew Vaughn has a major Hollywood studio "keen to fully fund his next big project: The Golden Age about a retirement home where superheroes end up."

It's at this point that I am obliged to refer you to Superfogeys or Welcome To Tranquility.

This has previously been reported as the next comic book project for Jonathan Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards (though Edwards is missed out from the Deadline report). They state that Vaughn wished to cast Expendables style, the likes of Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, and Warren Beatty as "retired superheroes who help out their grandchildren when their middle-aged parents screw up the world."

The Radio Times recently described Golden Age as "a mix of magic, prohibition, technology and pensioners"

Deadline also seems to think that Jane Goldman is Vaughn's partner, which may come as news to her husband, and author of Golden Age, Jonathan Ross. But Vaughn is also not stating he'll be directing and may rather produce.

So Kick Ass 2 fans, don't you despair quite so soon.
