Terminator 3000 Is Not A Liquidiser, But A New Animated Movie – UPDATED With Arguably Good News

Terminator 3000 Is Not A Liquidiser, But A New Animated Movie – UPDATED With Arguably Good NewsIs this the future of the big franchise blockbuster with sequels that don't perform quite as well, especially with cast that run off and become politicians?

Terminator 3000 is a new $70 million CG animation movie project from Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment set in the same fictional universe as Terminator, Terminator 2, Terminator 3, The Sarah Conner Chronicles and Terminator Salvation – as far as any time-travel franchsie can be said to be in the same universe anyway.

The project will aim to be a PG-13 movie, so the violence will be toned down, and there probably won't be much of a chance of even seeing a pair of breasts. Production will begin early next year.

And now I don't have to see it. Thank you press release, job done! Visual from here:

UPDATE: Deadline have learned from Hannover House's Eric Parkinson that a cease and desist letter has been sent to him in an attempt to stop the movie from being work. Maybe it will work… or maybe he's in a position to negotiate.

The letter came from Pacificor who have "approval and licensing authority" over the film, but have not yet granted it. However, if they like Parkinson's approval, they might just sign on the line. Of course, Parkinson's already ticked them off enough that they've hit him with a C&D so he's not exactly pitching from a strong position.

Nonetheless, he says:

We've arranged a meeting, we'll show them our money and if the rational brain prevails, they'll take the deal. If not, I can't do it without them. You'll have a followup next week that we are either holding  hands, or not doing the film. At least we now have our meeting. I hope they will can think outside the box, because if we can make a movie that delivers a $20 million to $30 million rights payment, that is an income source they didn't realize was possible. If not, it was a good idea anyway.

I won't be surprised to hear this is a definite go rather soon, but if we never hear of it again, I'll have probably forgotten all about it by Christmas.
