Papa Smurf Penniless, In Jail On Remand

He's not going to be able to smurf his way out of this.

Stuart Ross, who made a fortune introducing the Smurfs to the US public has been accused of trying to extort eleven million dollars from his nephew, the Blackstone executive David Blitzer.

However these days he can't even afford bail.

The allegations are that Ross told Blitzer he would launch a series of smears if Blitzer refused to pay the sum, anywhere between five and eleven million dollars.

Ross claims he is penniless, homeless, about to be divorced and suffering from leukemia. As a lawyer he plans to represent himself in court.

All this just on the eve of the Smurfs making a big comeback, with a big budget movie and a reprint of all the graphic novels in the USA on its way.

Ross however won't see a penny of it, having sold on the original rights he acquired in the seventies…
