Harvey Pekar Vs Israel

The National Post profiles autobiographical comic book writer Harvey Pekar, and he's as hilarious as usual. He is basically a much poorer, real-life version of Larry David's Larry David character in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Far more than Larry David is himself.

The infamously irritable comic book legend Harvey Pekar admits attending the Toronto Jewish Film Festival for reasons other than his religious beliefs. "I really don't like to travel, but I can use the money," says Pekar over the phone from his Cleveland home base. "I made good money from the movie, but my books don't really sell well and if they'll fly me in, I'll take it, you know?"

Pekar is currently working on a previously announced graphic novel The Pekar Project and a book that, up till now, we hadn't heard of.

Its title is How I Lost Faith In Israel.

Looks like he may well be about to make a whole host of new enemies there.If you'd like to ask him a question about it, and you're not at C2E2, he'll be appearing at the previously mentioned Toronto Jewish Film Festival on Sunday.
