Studio Ghibli Adapt The Borrowers

Friend of Bleeding Cool, Brendon Connelly of /Film is reporting that Studio Ghibli, the people behind Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, are adapting classic English children's book The Borrowers as their next project. I bloody loved The Borrowers as a kid. This will make Eve's 2010…

borrowAlready adapted as live action films and TV series, The Borrowers is a story about a family of tiny people and their day-to-day battles with the giants who live in the same house, and their relations with other tiny folk.

Relocated from fifties Britain to modern day Japan, the movie is scheduled to be released next summer. Damn, they keep their information tight over at Ghibli. The current English title is The Borrower Arrietty centring on the 14 year old girl of the family, Arietty. The movie has been directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi with Hayao Miyazaki as a close producer.

Thanks to Ghibli World and the official site for this. I am so happy.
