Salman Rushdie Considering Graphic Novel

salman-rushdieForget your Maus, your Jimmy Corrigan, your City Of Glass, this could well be the next high-minded literary comics fetish object for your bookshelf.

Salman Rushdie, author of Midnight's Children and The Satanic Verses is planning to write a graphic novel. ContactMusic report;

Recently I got asked if I'd like to write a graphic novel. When I was a kid I was a real comic book nut and I can tell you a lot about superheroes.

Not only could Rushdie be writing a graphic novel, but it could be a superhero comic to boot. Was that the sound of Gary Groth choking on his own tongue?

But despite Salman Rushdie being a darling of the literati, he's had a disguised taste for genre work. His first novel, Grimus, was science-fiction, and he's partially responsible for the term magical realism gaining traction so that reviewers don't have to read or review a fantasy novel.

Heaven forfend.

Maybe he could take over Frank Miller on All Star Batman And Robin The Boy Wonder?

UPDATE: It was from the Craig Ferguson Late Late Show on CBS last night. ICV2 has a semi-transcript.
