Lying In The Gutters – October 5th 2009

This is Lying In The Gutters, the Monday runaround of the week on Bleeding Cool with one or new bits to boot. To sign up to the Lying In The Gutters mailing list and get this weekly post mailed to you, look to the right…

From the Birmingham International Comic Show… Garry Leach (Marvelman, Warpsmiths) created a painting from scratch, live. And damn…

mmickeyYou've got to admire the man haven't you?

So what's been happening at the Cool this week?

I broke the news on a Cla$$War movie in development from the makers of The Surrogates and that Wowio were finally paying their 2008 second quarter payments.

There was news of crowd-pleasing oneshots from DC in January, a few more details on Cerebus TV from Dave Sim and Robot Chicken's Tom Root writing Jughead #200. Other notable work in progress, as was the Phonogram team working on a backup strip for S.W.O.R.D. #1 for Marvel.

I tried to describe logos from upcoming Marvel movies, reported on the looting of a Batman collection of a recently murdered multi-millionaire, found Ricky Gervais going back to Sesame Street, discovered the trailer for SyFy's The Phantom,  and totted up order numbers for this week's Haunt.

Though I don't normally mention the reviews in Lying In The Gutters, a comparative review between Herogasm and Mickey Mouse went down well.

I talked about Alan Moore's new fanzine Dodgem Logic. And the weekend of three conventions was covered in Twitter a bit….

We welcomed Denny O'Neil to the Bleeding Cool crowd. There's certainly a good body of us here now…

And that was the cool that was… contact me on richjohnston@gmail.com or call +44 7801350982 (07801350982) or write to Bleeding Cool, 8 Robin Hood Lane, London SW15 3PU, UK.
