Fans at D23 got a look at Maleficent: Mistress of Evil This followup to 2014’s blockbuster live-action flick starring Angelina Jolie kicked off Disney’s current run of live-action remakes, and this long-awaited sequel is on fire. Angelina Jolie returned to the stage to say that she missed her and she likes playing Maleficent. In the […]
Shortly after the release of the first teaser trailer for Disney’s upcoming Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, three beautiful character posters have been released. Joachim Rønning is directing from a script by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, with a cast including Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Lesley Manville, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It seems that production on Disney’s upcoming film Maleficent 2 has officially wrapped, at least according to director Joachim Rønning. He’s teased some pretty great stuff from the sequel set via his instagram throughout the filming process. Like this one, citing “Midnight Magic”: Midnight magic on the set of #maleficent2 ✨ @disney A post shared […]
How To Talk To Girls At Parties is a film I’ve personally been waiting for since it was announced. While not the biggest Neil Gaiman fan, this is probably my favorite of his short stories. Added in with one of my personal heroes in the director’s chair with the most perfect sensibilities for the project, […]
Galveston is tough to watch at times, but with the compelling performances, slow burn pacing, and gut punch ending, it really delivers in the end. Summary: After escaping a set up, a dying hitman returns to his hometown of Galveston where he plans his revenge. Galveston, directed by Mélanie Laurent, stars Ben Foster, Elle Fanning, […]
Fans of author Neil Gaiman are in for another treat this year with a film adaptation of his short story, “How To Talk To Girls At Parties”. Most folks are excited for this film because of the source material, or the fabulous all-star cast including Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, Ruth Wilson, and Alex Sharp. But myself? I’m more excited for the […]
A Reddit post about the casting for Joss Whedon’s Batgirl on the /r/DCEULeaks subreddit has been making the rounds in the entertainment media today, including articles on major outlets like ComicBook.com and ScreenRant. While a rumor sourced from Reddit is normally pretty risky, recent deregulation in the clickbait news industry has made it possible to […]
In the trailer for Nicholas Winding Refn‘s The Neon Demon, Elle Fanning stars as Jesse, an aspiring model attempting to make it in Los Angeles. But to survive the cannibalistic business, Jesse will have to become what her mother always said she was: dangerous. The Neon Demon opens in June.
Trumbo stars Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston as screenwriter Dalton Trumbo. Writer of such films as Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo, he was called to testify before the House Unamerican Activities Committee in 1947. Refusing to answer charges, Trumbo was convicted of contempt of Congress, imprisoned and placed on Hollywood’s blacklist of talent no longer welcome within […]
This October we’ll get to see writer/director Jake Paltrow’s post-apocalyptical drama Young Ones. It’s the story set in the near future where water has become scarce and the only thing of value. Humanity and the world have gone to Hell. A father, Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), tries to protect his farm from bandits and work […]
Way back in 2012, before all of those months of CG work and post production, we stopped by and visited the set of Maleficent. You can read the full report in the new issue of Bleeding Cool magazine, complete with insight from Angelina Jolie, but here’s some commentary from Elle Fanning. Fanning plays Aurora, the […]
Unfortunately, it appears they gave away the best parts in yesterday’s tease.
If you had shown me these two posters and asked which belonged to which country, I probably would have guessed backwards.
Intercut with the same scenes from the animated Disney version of Sleeping Beauty, it gives us a nice contrast to how these characters have been translated into live-action form.
That short film starring Elle Fanning is darling.
Played very well by Elle Fanning and Angelina Jolie, the central scene here could very easily have come from the pages of Company of Wolves.
Elle Fanning out. Hannah Murray and Emily Browning in.
Linda Woolverton‘s next script-flipping do-over of a Disney classic will be Maleficent, a retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story from the point of view of the (wicked?) witch. Angelina Jolie has stayed with the project while directors have come and gone, which makes sense – just imagine her in the make-up and costume and you’ll […]
Bomb, eh? That’s one of those film titles like, say, Superbad or Cop Out that seems immediately destined for a mocking reference on some old bod’s film review radio show.* “It reviews itself,” he’ll say. He always does. Yes. Well. I’d actually say Bomb stands every chance of coming together. It has been written, and […]
Here’s the trailer for Francis Ford Coppola‘s gothic horror gimmick picture Twixt, formerly Twixt Now and Sunrise, with Val Kilmer and Elle Fanning, and Ben Chaplin as Edgar Allen Poe. This is not, appropriately enough, either of the edits shown at Comic-Con. Coppola’s big idea here is that Twixt will tour as a roadshow […]
