REVIEW: Star Trek Year Five #10 — "The Plot Kind Of Pushes All The Dishes Off The Table"

There is some fantastic character work here, giving Hikaru Sulu a deeply emotional, resonant experience. There are also some really impressive visual sequences here. Unfortunately, the Federation also technically ignited a planetary war and was ultimately like, "oops." Whaaaaaat? For such a cavalier attitude, one would expect Jim Kirk to be in the middle of things, but he's shockingly unconscious the entire time. As noted, the artwork is a winner but the plot kind of pushes all the dishes off the table, then walks away, hands in pockets, whistling and staring at the sky. An odd tonal choice for even the wild days of the original series, and it throws the whole experience off its kilter. RATING: HONORABLE MENTION
