New Poster for "Sonic the Hedgehog", Star Ben Schwartz's Star Wars Contribution

Marketing for Paramount Pictures' Sonic the Hedgehog with Dolby Cinema revealing the film's latest poster on its Twitter account.

The poster shows the Sonic (voice of Ben Schwartz) on top of Sheriff Tom Wachowski's (James Marsden) police cruiser in motion. Sitting in his vehicle, Tom busts out the sunglasses and radar gun.

Sonic tries to navigate the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound best friend — a human named Tom Wachowski. They must soon join forces to prevent the evil Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his powers for world domination.

Directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the film takes the Sega mascot out of his more animated world into the real world. The film is based on the video game franchise of the same name. The blue furry speed demon became of a staple of Sega consoles since 1991 with the Genesis.

Like Mario is to Nintendo, Sonic was the subject of many Sega first-party titles until the company ceased console production in 2001. The Sonic universe since expanded across multiple consoles with Sega transitioning as a third-party developer. He's even appeared in quite a few games for their one-time rival including the popular Super Smash Bros series and Mario v Sonic Olympics games.

The live-action Sonic film took nearly six years to make bouncing around from Sony to Paramount. Sony hired Fowler in 2016 before the takeover. Filming took place in summer 2018. Another setback due to fan backlash of Sonic's character design delayed the film's release.

"Sonic" Voice Ben Schwartz on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

Schwartz went on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss the film while Star Wars came up. The Parks and Recreation actor admitted to writing a few jokes for C-3PO for The Rise of Skywalker. You can watch the clip below.

Sonic the Hedgehog also stars Tika Stumpter, Lee Majdoub, and Adam Pally.

The film comes to theaters on February 14th. You can watch the trailer below.
