Weekend Box Office: 'Bad Boys' Wins Again as Top Three Stays the Same
Bad Boys For Life continued to impress at the weekend box office, taking the crown for the second straight week. The film added $34 million dollars to its total, taking the pic over the $100 million mark in just two weeks. It's running total stands at $120.6 million, and at some point in the next few days it will eclipse Bad Boys 2 as the franchise gross leader.
Climbing back into second to Bad Boys For Life is the Sam Mendes war film 1917, adding $15.8 million and also crossing the $100 million mark. In its third week of wide release, the film has now grossed $103.9 million and will continue to ride awards momentum for a couple more weeks. In third was Dolittle, taking in $12.5 million. That pic is sinking fast, and in another week or two when it has opened everywhere we will know how much of a write-off Universal can expect on the film.
Rounding out the top five were the new Guy Ritchie mob comedy The Gentlemen with $11 million and Jumanji: The Next Level with $7.9 million. The former opens a bit softer than some anticipated, but a lower budget and good word of mouth should carry that one to a profit. In yet another January horror bomb, The Turning placed sixth this weekend with a paltry $7.3 million and after The Grudge becomes the second horror film this month to receive an "F" from CinemaScore.

Next week sees the release of the Blake Lively revenge thriller The Rhythm Section, as well as yet another January horror entry trying to impress audiences, Gretel & Hansel. It is not a higher bar to clear so far for the latter.
