Identity Crisis Solved as Valiant Names Creative Team for Final Witness

Earlier this month, we told you that Valiant's Heroes would be In Crisis thanks to an Incoming murder mystery comic called Final Witness. However, despite naming the comic and its premise (and Bleeding Cool actually had the name months earlier — pip pip), the comic was announced with no creative team. However, Valiant has revealed today that Ray Fawkes and Jeremy Haun will be the creative team for The Final Witness, a five-issue mini-series launching in April, colors by Nick Filardi, letters by Clayton Cowles, and covers by Haun, Rahzzah, Michael Walsh, Caspar Wijngaard, and Travis Escarfullery.

From the press release:

A terrifying serial killer wreaks havoc in THE FINAL WITNESS #1 (of 5) this April!

Eisner-nominated writer RAY FAWKES (Batman Eternal) and electrifying artist JEREMY HAUN (Batwoman) present a captivating crime-noir mystery! Can a powerful new hero, a detective, and an investigative journalist solve this chilling case as more and more bodies are found in San Francisco?

Said Fawkes of the series:

I'm thrilled to bring a crime-thriller twist to the Valiant superhero universe, and I'm excited to see the fans react to this book. It's a real ride, with a lot of twists and turns and some good, horrifying crime thrown into the mix.

People who read my work know I love the darker side of things, and this book is one where I truly get to cut loose. I'm really looking forward to watching fans try to unravel the mystery!

While Haun added:

I work with Ray Fawkes and our colorist Nick Filardi every chance I get. They're some of the best talent in the business. It's exciting to be working together on this story for Valiant.

And Valiant editor Heather Antos said:

THE FINAL WITNESS is all about putting a twist on what it means to be a superhero — what it means to be Valiant, even. Each issue we have new twists and reveals as we further reveal the mystery that I can guarantee readers won't see coming, and I can't wait for the journey to begin with the first clue in issue #1!

Look for the first issue on April 29th and check out an unlettered preview below:

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
