Sins Past 2? Gwen Stacy Series to Reveal "Surprising Revelations" About Past Relationships

Marvel Comics has released an unlettered preview of Gwen Stacy #1, the first issue of a new Gwen Stacy solo series hitting stores in February by Christos Gage and Todd Nauck. In addition to that, Marvel interviewed Gage for Marvel.com and, hoping to make some headlines, asked Gage whether the series, set before Gwen meets Peter Parker, would feature any "surprising revelations" about the character.

It's a loaded question because the last time readers received "surprising revelations" about Gwen Stacy's past, it was during the Sins Past storyline in Amazing Spider-Man #509-514 which revealed that Stacy had a secret affair with The Green Goblin, who fathered two children with her. But Marvel wouldn't be so disgusting as to do something like that again, right? Right?!

Is this meant to be a light-hearted series about a fun, young woman, or are there going to be surprising revelations about Gwen?

The tone we're going for is like the TV show Veronica Mars: there are definite moments of light-hearted fun, but there are also deadly serious, dangerous things going on. There are a few things that we think are shocking revelations, but not in the way the way some readers will expect. Like, we're not going to reveal she was secretly a ninja or something. She's still the Gwen people know and love but you don't know almost anything about who she was (or what relationships she had) in high school before she met Pete at Empire State University, so we have a lot of room to tell stories about that period. Hopefully there will be something for everyone.

Oh no! We're going to learn about Gwen's high school relationships? With who? The Vulture? Kraven the Hunter? Oh god!

Gwen Stacy #1 hits stores on February 8th. Check out the preview below.

The First of Gwen Stacy's AMAZING Adventures!
Gwen and Peter may not have met until AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #31, but that doesn't mean Gwen's life began on that page. About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
