"Green Lantern": HBO Max, Greg Berlanti Series Will "Span Several Decades", Focus on Several GLs & Feature Sinestro

Back in October 2019, The CW "Arrowverse" mastmind Greg Berlanti confirmed he was bringing Strange Adventures (first revealed here by Bleeding Cool) and a Green Lantern-based series to HBO Max; with Elizabeth Banks developing DC Super Hero High, focusing on our favorite heroes during their teenage high school years.

Flash ahead to Janaury 2020, with HBO Max Head of Original Content Sarah Aubrey taking some time during the streaming service's Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press event to offer more details on the Green Lantern series (especially now that there's extra attention on the ring-bearers after their guest appearance during The CW's Arrowverse crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths).

● The series is going to span generations, but with a specific focus on two Earth-stationed Green Lanterns ("It's going to span several decades on focus on two stories about Green Lanterns on Earth") and one space-set storyline.

● Looks like all storylines roads will be "going into the Sinestro story," bringing Green Lantern Hal Jordan's archenemy and dishonored Green Lantern Corp members into the spotlight.

"Both of these original DC properties we'll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television. An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can't reveal any more about that just yet."

"HBO Max will bring together the diverse riches of WarnerMedia to create programming and user experiences not seen before in a streaming platform. HBO's world-class programming leads the way, the quality of which will be the guiding principle for our new array of Max Originals, our exciting acquisitions, and the very best of the Warner Bros. libraries, starting with the phenomenon that is 'Friends'. Under the leadership of two of the strongest creative visionaries — Casey Bloys (HBO) and Kevin Reilly (original content and acquisitions) — and two of the most experienced digital experts — Tony Goncalves and Andy Forssell — I have no doubt they and their dedicated teams will deliver the world's best storytelling to audiences of all ages wherever and whenever they want it."

– Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct-To-Consumer

HBO Max is WarnerMedia's direct-to-consumer offering debuting in spring 2020. With 10,000 hours of curated premium content anticipated at launch, HBO Max will offer powerhouse programming for everyone in the home, bringing together HBO, a robust slate of new original series, key third-party licensed programs and movies, and fan favorites from Warner Bros., New Line, DC, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes, and more.
