If you were looking forward to checking out Sony's wares this year at E3 2020, it looks like that's no longer going to happen.

Following in 2019's footsteps, Sony has declared that it will not be participating in this year's event. A Sony Interactive Entertainment spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz that it will not be attending, and instead will attend "hundreds" of consumer events in a bid to show off its new games for PlayStation 4 and its upcoming PlayStation 5 for the holidays.

"After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020," the spokesperson said. "We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year."

"We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans."

It isn't clear whether this marks the beginning of the end for Sony's overall involvement with E3, but two years in a row isn't a good sign. For now, it seems that if you want to learn more about the upcoming PlayStation 5, you're going to have to participate in one of the events the company apparently has scheduled instead.
