"See" Season 2: Dave Bautista Set for Apple TV+, Jason Mamoa Sci-Fi Drama

Jason Mamoa is bringing some extra muscle to his new AppleTV+ series See in Dave Bautista. The soon-to-be-51-year-old will be a television series regular for the first time since his days in a WWE ring.

See comes courtesy of creator Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and director Francis Lawrence. The story takes place in a dystopian future where humanity is ravaged by a deadly virus. Survivors emerged blind. The story follows Baba Voss (Mamoa), father of twins with the mythic ability to see, who must protect his tribe from the forces of a powerful queen (Sylvia Hoeks).

The scripted drama comes courtesy of Peter Chernin's Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content featuring visually impaired cast and crew, who helped bring authenticity to the world. Jonathan Tropper serves as season two showrunner and serves as co-executive producer with Knight, Lawrence, Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kristen Campo.

Bautista's Success

While in WWE, Bautista dabbled into occasional acting gigs while a full-time performer. When he first departed the company in 2014, he landed his big break as Drax the Destroyer in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. Bautista's physical presence and deadpan humor rose him to superstardom landing other roles in Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Stuber (2019), and Spectre (2015). As part of the Guardians, he reprised the role three more times in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

Bautista's set to reprise his role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 set for release in 2021. In 2020, he'll be in the upcoming My Spy and Dune. He'll make his return to squared-circle at least one more time as part of the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2020 at WrestleMania.

The series also stars Alfre Woodard, Hera Hilmar, and Christian Camargo.

See season one is available to stream on AppleTV+.
