Magneto is the Master of Magnetism, But He Sucks at Table Manners

X-Men #4 is in stores now, and Bleeding Cool Rumourmonger-in-Chief Rich Johnston dedicated one of his weekly comics spoiler articles to talking all about Professor Xavier and his hippie dream of humans and mutants co-existing peacefully, blah blah blah blah blah. But Rich missed the bigger story of the book, which was the fact that either mutants have entirely different ideas than humans of what constitutes good table manners, or Magneto simply doesn't have any at all.

Just look at this scene from X-Men #4, where Magneto explains to a table of diplomats how mutants intend to conquer the world without ever firing a single shot.

Magneto is the Master of Magnetism, But He Sucks at Table Manners

Horrifying, isn't it?! Magneto was talking while chewing the entire time! We don't know what's going on in Krakoa, but if this new mutant society is one where people chew with their mouths open and talk with their mouths full, maybe it's time to bring in the Sentinels!

Magneto Sucks at Table Manners, but Maybe That's The Plan

Either mutants have entirely different ideas than humans of what constitutes good table manners, or Magneto simply doesn't have any at all.  But really, this is just one more example of how the new mutant society on Krakoa is totally different from anything humans are used to. If this is the way they do things on Krakoa, who knows what other strange customs they have? magneto's table manners could be the least of our worries!

Another possibility is that Magneto is simply trying to be disruptive. By chewing with his mouth open and talking with his mouth full, he's trying to make a statement that humans and mutants are not the same. He's trying to show that mutants are not going to play by the same rules as humans. Of course, this could backfire. If humans see that mutants are not even polite, they may be even more inclined to fear and hate them. But Magneto is not known for being a tactician. He's a revolutionary, and he's probably more concerned with making a statement than with winning over humans.

A prophecy claims that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Unfortunately, nobody can tell when the comics industry has reached its "darkest days" because it somehow keeps finding new lows to sink to. No matter! Jude Terror stands vigilant, bringing the snarkiest of comic book and pro wrestling clickbait to the undeserving readers of Bleeding Cool.
