McTucky Fried High Gets a Graphic Novel Sequel – Camp Cutlery From Robin Carnilius

Camp Cutlery is a graphic novel debut for comic creator Robin Carnilius kickstarted earlier this year. It follows a trans, genderqueer teen named Peanut (pronouns: they, them, theirs), who is an unapologetic social justice warrior. When Peanut is falsely accused of bombing their high school, they are sentenced to a conservative military-style correctional facility for troubled teens where LGBTQ people and issues don't exist. While serving time, Peanut must fight for freedom and expose the truth about Camp Cutlery's straight conversion therapy program.

 Camp Cutlery is a spin-off of their previous animated web series, McTucky Fried High. McTucky tackled a variety of subjects that Robin felt were absent in mainstream cartoons: issues such as coming out, gender identity and expression, and racial discrimination, and garnered praise from the likes of Huffington Post, The Daily Dot, Seventeen, Indiewire, Out, Chicago Magazine, and more. Carnilius is a black transfemme author and creates this comic book set in a world of LGBTQ anthropomorphized food with that informed perspective.
