Barry Windsor-Smith to Release Monsters Graphic Novel Next Year

Move over, Steve McNiven, you poseur! Barry Windsor-Smith is set to return in 2020 to release his graphic novel, Monsters. Windsor-Smith posted a graphic saying the long-gestating book will be out next year on his Facebook page. Originally conceived as a Hulk story in the 1980s, Monsters has had a long and storied development process that rivals even the most famous of delayed projects, as detailed in this Bleeding Cool article from 2017. But it's finally finished (or almost finished) and we can expect to see it in 2020, provided the world doesn't end by that time.

The premise, from Windsor-Smith's website:

A FAILED GENETICS PROJECT FROM 1944 GERMANY INVADES THE LIVES OF TWO AMERICAN FAMILIES IN THE 1950s AND THE 1960s.

No word on an exact release date, publisher, or price, but we can live with the ambiguity if it means we will get new work from Barry Windsor-Smith in 2020.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
