If you're a fan of your PSP or your PS Vita, hold on to them for dear life. It looks like Sony isn't interested in staying in the handheld business any longer.

While we pretty much already knew that, as they made it abundantly clear, during a recent interview it was confirmed. In a Game Informer feature, PlayStation head Jim Ryan stated that Sony isn't going to be making another portable PlayStation console.

"PlayStation Vita was brilliant in many ways, and the actual gaming experience was great, but clearly it's a business that we're no longer in now," he said. Ouch. He didn't put a nail in the coffin forever, but it looks like at least at the time being portables won't be happening.

Right now, Sony is all about the PlayStation 5, obviously. But with the Switch being all the rage as well as portable streaming with the Stadia, it still seems like a good idea to at least consider pursuing. Sony would do well to remember everyone who's still rocking a PSP and a Vita, mostly for emulation now. But they're carrying them anyway, right?
