Marvel Studios Has Dropped the First Trailer and Poster for "Black Widow"

It's been a bit quiet on the Marvel Studios side of things for the last couple of months. We got new footage and cast announcements at San Diego Comic-Con and D23 but nothing that has been released to the public. At least when it came to the only movie that they had footage to show which was Black Widow. Now that the new year is about to come and it's time to start promoting the first of the Marvel Cinematic Movies we're getting next year. The first teaser trailer for Black Widow is probably about 60% footage that those of us who were in the room at SDCC and D23 have already seen but there is plenty of new stuff including lots of new hints about the plot while also showing off what kind of action scenes we're in store for.

The official twitter for Marvel has also released a new poster for Black Widow to go with the new teaser trailer.

First Trailer and Poster for "Black Widow" Drops

So far everything about Black Widow is making it look like a Jason Bourne or James Bond movie but in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and with a primarily female cast. We're into it. However, this might be one of those times where it's too little too late. A Black Widow movie this late in the game seems a bit redundant but at least we're not getting yet another straight origin story. It's going to be interesting to see whether or not audiences turn up to this one.

Black Widow, directed by Cate Shortland, stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O. T. Fagbenle, Rachel Weisz, and Ray Winstone. It will be released on May 1, 2020.
