Go See What Brian K Vaughan's Movie, Roundtable, Would Have Been Like, Tonight

In 2008, Saga's Brian K Vaughan's screenplay Roundtable made it onto the Black List, an annual collection of screenplays deemed excellent – but unmade. Sometimes their very presence encourages people to make them as movies. Sometimes it doesn't. Such as Roundtable.

But Vaughan isn't giving up. And tonight at the Montalban Theatre in Los Angeles, stars of stage and screen will be performing a table read of the movie, with Brian Vaughan, including at least one cast member of Brooklyn 99. I know, look impressed.

When an ancient evil returns to terrorize modern-day England, legendary wizard Merlin must assemble a new Roundtable, only to learn that today's knights aren't noble warriors, but athletes, businessmen, and celebrities like Sir Michael Caine.

The read will include:

  • Saturday Night Live's Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah and Natasha Rothwell
  • Arrested Development and Veep's Tony Hale
  • Gotham's Anthony Carrigan
  • Brooklyn 99's Joe Lo Truglio
  • Orange Is The New Black's Lauren Lapkus
  • Ill Behaviour's Chris Geere

And there are still tickets available. I checked... why not go along, and then make the movie yourself?
