Excalibur, Bloodshot, and Venom Sell Out – The Back Order List

Every week your Local Comic Book Shop gets in the weekly assortment of comics, trades, posters, action figures, and other goodies from Diamond.  Now some of these goodies sell our fast from your LCBS, so Tuesday and Wednesday LCBS retailers get on the phone (more often the computer) and let Diamond know they need more.  Or sometimes they go to unpack those Diamond boxes and find items missing, or too damaged to sell (it does happen), retailers have to let Diamond know.  However, the phrase no retailer likes to hear when they go to report those shortages, damages, or reorders is: "Sorry that item is on back order", which means there are no more copies to send out from the Diamond warehouse.

So for this last week of October what are some of the items that went to back order? And what are some that surprising didn't? (Note that the Back Order List is from the end of the day Wednesday and obviously as time goes on other comics will be on back order soon as retailers place orders.)

On a month that has five Wednesdays, so five weeks of shipping from Diamond from the big comic book companies, usually the last week is one reserved for annuals, special "skip week" books, and titles that have fallen behind in shipping.  This last fifth week of October is no exception to this, with DC putting out a lot of annuals this week, and Marvel and everyone else putting out a mix of books.

Going alphabetical the first book that was already known to go to back order, because of the already announced second print, is Bloodshot #2. However, only the main cover (AUG192304) by Shalvey has sold out from Diamond,

with other covers by Johnson (AUG192305)

and Bisley (AUG192306) still available to order.  So if you want a first print go quickly to your retailer and ask if they can order those.

Next, and sure to be announced as a second print very soon, is the third launch for Dawn of X, Excalibur #1 (Volume … uh … five? No wait, only Volume Four.) Not only is the main cover on back order

but the Mark Bagley "All Mutants" variant cover is also gone.

Expect the Del Mundo Young Guns Variant (AUG190858) to join the other two covers as on back order soon.

The last notable entry on the back order list is Venom #19, an Absolute Carnage tie-in.  However, the main cover (AUG190927) is still available for order.

It is the Amazing Mary Jane month variant for Venom #19, with art by Jee-Hyung Lee that has gone to back order.

As is normal for DC and Marvel their second choice, cover B, variants which are almost always order as many as you want, or meet or exceed your normal numbers, if they sell out they are almost never reprinted.  DC often has their cover B variants, which retailers can order as many as they want of, but so rarely do order match the main cover, usually have no copies left to reorder or get damage replacement copies of.  Marvel usually does have some left, but with variant covers by hot artists like Artgerm , or covers that are particularly eye catching or sexy, they disappear fast.

None of the DC Annuals from this week have gone to back order, the last issue of DCeased still has copies at Dimaond, Joker Year Of The Villian #1 & Harleen #2 still have copies in stock, as does Marvel Zombies Ressurection #1, Savage Avengers Annual #1, and Red Goblin Red Death #1.

So if you are your LCBS and see any of these "back order" titles grab them if you want them, because Diamond won't be sending anymore no matter how much your local retailer asks.
