During the first day of New York Comic-Con 2019 Hasbro held an off-site event where it unveiled its new Transformers’ line, the second part of the War for Cybertron franchise, called Earthrise. This is a follow-up to the Siege line and will leave one more, currently unnamed, chapter of the story still to come. Offerings from the Generations Select and Cyberverse Transformers lines were also on display.
All of the Earthrise Transformers figures were displayed on a custom diorama that was constructed to resemble the Autobot Hound’s hologram military installation from the third episode of the original G1 cartoon. The new battle station mechanic was prominently featured showing how many of the figures could be joined via the use of ramps.
It was confirmed that each toy in line will include a piece of a map to the larger Transformers’ universe. This was compared to the map from the classic Terry Gilliam film Time Bandits. Each piece will have a lens with it that can be used to decode Easter Eggs and references. The lens is red and the process is meant to call back to the Tech Specs of the original line.
Earthrise continues the Siege tradition of having blast effects and pegs on all toys for customizability of battle scenes and interchangeability of certain accessories. All Transformers figures shown at the event will be available on shelves March 1, 2020, right after Toy Fair.
In other Transformers news, Hasbro representatives confirmed that the toys from the crossover line with Ghostbusters sold out immediately. Though this is considered to be a very successful venture no new crossover lines, or continuation of this one, were announced.
The Cyberverse Transformers figures unveiled were Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Shockwave, and Maccadam, who is a build-a-figure and the Generations Select ones were Hot Shot, Cromar, and Smokescreen.

Hasbro’s formal announcement for Earthrise:
WAR FOR CYBERTRON: EARTHRISE The siege is over, but the War for Cybertron has just begun. The Autobots and Decepticons have left Cybertron, but their battle rages on as they hurtle through space in pursuit of the Allspark. With unforeseen dangers lurking ahead and the Decepticons closing in from behind, the only way out for the Autobots is to find a way through. Both sides must navigate the perils of space and instantly adapt to battle anywhere in the cosmos. With the highly advanced A.I.R. (Adaptable Interconnection Retrofitter) Locks system, the fighters don’t head to the battlefield, they become it. Bots capable of converting into Modular Battle Stations can A.I.R.-Lock together in custom configurations to fit the needs of battle. As the battle rages through space, success depends on who can best adapt to the battlefield beyond. But it’s not just the battlefield that commands adaptability. Allegiances can shift just as rapidly, with a new Mercenary faction introduced into the Earthrise world alongside the Autobots and Decepticons.
