Steve Rogers Vs Toxic Masculinity in Today's Captain America #14 (Spoilers)

With each issue of late, Marvel's Captain America has been getting a little more political. Dropping the Captain America name and colours in favour of the Super Soldier look has not only freed up the actions of Steve Rogers, but also, it seems what he is willing to let himself think. As if the responsibilities of the Captain America uniform restrained what he thought as well as what he did.

Fighting the Watchdogs, with Confederate flag masks has seen him dropping the Captain America name and colours in favour of the Super Soldier look, which has not only freed up his actions further, but also, it seems freed up what he is willing to let himself think.

And in Captain America #14, he lets it all hang out.

Harleen

"Man-babies who never made it to state. Losers who dream of shooting up a school because the head cheerleader never went behind the bleachers with them." And this is not the first time he has encountered such.

Harleen

"I knew guys like this back during the war.  Jackasses who didn't care one hoot about death camps or genocide or massacres or the Jews. They just wanted somebody to beat on because they thought that's what men did."

But don't think Steve Rogers has just got it in for the jocks. The nerds get it in the neck too.

Captain America Vs Toxic Masculinity

Equal opportunity offencer. Which begs the question, given issues with Mark Waid's Captain America in Marvel Comics #1000 and Art Spiegelman's piece for the Marvel Archival book getting Orange Skulled by Marvel editorial – what was the above like in its first draft?
