Rumor: A New "Splinter Cell" Item Hints At New Game

If you believe the rumor mill this week, it looks like Ubisoft are planning the next Splinter Cell game based on a new product. The lastest company to spread the rumors is GameStop, who recently listed a new item on their shop for some replica Splinter Cell goggles. You can see the item here, but just in case they pull or change the description, here's a little of what they wrote about them.

For the first time since the introduction of Splinter Cell in 2002, after nine top selling AAA+ titles, and with the 10th release on the horizon, this is your first chance to own Sam Fisher's signature Ultra High-Frequency Sonar Goggles. Inspired by Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell video games by Ubisoft, and using Ubisoft's original development files, these ultra-realistic Sam's Goggles feature a comfortable design with adjustable straps.

In case you didn't catch that, they say "10th release on the horizon", which fans immediately picked up on and ran with as confirmation of a new game in the works. It's been rumored for ages now that we're getting one, so it's no surprise people are running with it. But until we see something concrete, this is basically still a rumor.
