“Star Wars: Resistance” To End With Upcoming Second Season – See The Brand New Trailer

Gear up Star Wars animation fans! The Lucasfilm and Disney Channel show Star Wars: Resistance has released an all-new trailer for its second – and final – season. Premiering on October 6th, Season 2 will follow Kaz (Christopher Sean) and his friends aboard the Colossus during the events of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and beyond. Full of the action, adventure, and comedy you expect from Star Wars, the new trailer does not disappoint. As the show leads fans into the events of Episode IX, however, the experience will be bittersweet. Lucasfilm has announced that the second season of Resistance will be the last. Once the show catches up with the events in the films, Resistance will end. Hopefully, the uneven pacing and character development that plagued Season 1 will be solved by marrying the show’s story with the wider film arc.

Let’s take a look. Light spoilers to follow.

The Lucasfilm Official Star Wars: Resistance Season 2 Synopsis:

The new season takes place during the events of “The Last Jedi” leading up to “The Rise of Skywalker,” as Kaz and the team continue to fight against the threat of the First Order, culminating in an epic series finale. The story picks up after a harrowing escape from the First Order, as the Colossus and all its residents find themselves lost in space, pursued by Agent Tierny [Sumalee Montano] and Commander Pyre [Liam McIntyre]. Kaz and team also face a myriad of new dangers along the way including bounty hunters, a suspicious Hutt, General Hux and Supreme Leader Kylo Ren [Matthew Wood]. Meanwhile, Tam [Suzie McGrath] grapples with her future and where her true allegiance lies, with her friends or the First Order. The thrilling final season will showcase how the unlikeliest of heroes can help spark hope across the galaxy.

At its heart, Resistance is a show about the effects of war on everyday people. Far from the politicians and generals, the Colossus must deal with the very mundane and frightening aspects of fleeing a war-torn home. In the trailer, Yeager (Scott Lawrence) and Captain Doza (Jason Hightower) find themselves struggling to support a travelling colony of refugees. Between epic space battles, the team will be searching for a source of fuel for the Colossus, and a new planet to call home. Meanwhile, Tam faces the reality of her choice to join the First Order at the end of last season. From the looks of it, she will learn that the military efficiency and law and order she admires have very real, very deadly, consequences for her friends.

Star Wars: Resistance will be welcoming several exciting new guest stars this season. The cast is expanding to include Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike) as Ax Tagrin, Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) as Norath Kev, Matthew Wood (The Clone Wars) as Kylo Ren, and Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) as the Aeosian Queen. If I am not mistaken, all four of these new characters appear in the above trailer. It will be exciting to see where this new talent takes the show.
