Marvel Teases Future for Squirrel Girl After Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #50, the Final Issue

Back in May, we learned the sad news that The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl will end with Novembers Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #50. We’re still coming to grips with it all – saying goodbye is so sad! But Marvel has made it all too real by revealing the final cover on their website Wednesday, just as the final story arc kicks off in Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #47 today.

From the press release on Marvel.com:

It’s the end of an era for the Squirrel Queen Doreen Green! The final issue of THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL by writer Ryan North and artist Derek Charm goes on sale this November. What does this mean for Squirrel Girl and all of the friends she’s made? You’ll have to read THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #50 to find out! Here’s your first look at the cover by Erica Henderson:

In that press release, writer Ryan North discussed what Marvel is calling the end of “this part” of Squirrel Girl’s story, implying we could see the character return in some way in the near future.

It’s something rare these days to get to tell a story with an ending, especially a Super Hero story — but we had that chance, and I didn’t want to blow it! The story leading up to issue #50 — starting in THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #47, out today! — is one of the biggest and most impactful ones we’ve ever done with Squirrel Girl, and it’s not overstating things to say that it changes her life forever. But that’s what a Super Hero ending is, in my books: You want to wrap up what you did while setting the stage for something exciting to come next. That definitely happens in THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #50, and I both can’t wait for you to read it AND can’t wait to read your reactions after you’ve read it. Getting to write Doreen Green has really been special, and I hope you’ll come along for this final issue, and this big blowout adventure!

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #50 hits stores in November, and no solicit has been revealed yet, but you can see the cover below:

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
