Ablaze Brings Glenat's Uncensored, Violent, Sexual Conan Comics to U.S. in October

While Marvel has surely been making the most of the Conan license by publishing multiple solo series and even giving Conan his own Avengers team, over in Europe, where Conan is public domain, more publishers are taking advantage of the Barbarian's appeal. Bleeding Cool has previously reported on Conan comics by French publisher Glenat and Italian publisher Leviathan Labs, both making Conan comics in Europe, and even suggested that Marvel should obtain the rights to translate them to English and publish them here.

Well, Marvel hasn't done that, but Portland-based Publisher Ablaze, which launched earlier this year, publishing Charlie Adlard's Vampire State Building, which was first published in France. Now, Ablaze will bring Glenat's Conan comics to the U.S., beginning with Queen of the Black Coast by Jean-David Morvan and Pierre Alary. The comics are advertised as "uncensored," and "the true Conan, unrestrained, violent, and sexual." The first issue hits stores in October, and will be published with new covers by Jason Metcalf, Mirka Andolfo, and Ed Benes, as well as Pierre Alary (the original French cover).

Oh, and it's not called Conan. It's called "The Cimmerian."
