The State of the American Healthcare Industry in TMNT #95

At the recent Democratic primary debates, one of the major topics discussed and debated is that of the healthcare system in American, which most candidates agreed requires improvements, though exactly how to get there has been a matter of contention. But as this preview of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #95 shows us, the situation is direr than anyone imagined.

In the preview, Jennika's life hangs in the balance after she was stabbed in the gut as part of the war over control over the foot clan. But thanks to the lack of universal healthcare, instead of the hospital, Jennika is brought to a makeshift medical facility where scientists decide to try a dangerous experimental treatment.

Rather than receiving care from qualified medical professionals, Jennika will be injected with an experimental compound from another dimension, definitely not FDA approved.

And the doctors admit they don't even know everything about the drug's potential side-effects, though they definitely know it's dangerous.

And to make matters worse, it looks like the insurance companies may be coming to collect their profits after all.

TMNT #95 hits stores on Wednesday.
