Marvel Comics Presents #9 Will Be an All-Wolverine Issue… And Maybe the Last

Harkening back to the days when Marvel published a dozen Wolverine titles a month — Wolverine, Wolverine and the X-Men, Wolverine and the Wolverinemen of Wolverinetown, etc. — Marvel Comics Presents #9 will be all-Wolverine, all the time in September! The solicit reveals refers to the anthology as an All-Wolverine issue, featuring the finale to Wolverine's Vigil storyline. And it's that last fact which leads us to speculate that Marvel Comics Presents #9 could also be the end of Marvel Comics Presents, because Charles Soule originally teased The Vigil as a twelve-part story, not a nine-part story. With only two stories listed for this book (the other a return to the .EXE/men world from the latest round of Marvel What If one-shots), it seems like The Vigil could easily be wrapped up here for future trade collection and the series ended. Plus, the book has run with a "decades" theme celebrating 80 years of Marvel, and now it's caught up to the present.

After that, who knows. We'd love to see Marvel Comics Presents continue, but it hasn't exactly been lighting up the sales charts. Maybe it will relaunch as a Wolverine ongoing. We'll know soon enough, but for now, get your Wolverine fix in Marvel Comics Presents #9, solicit below. And view Marvel's full September solicitations here.
