Claremont and Sienkiewicz Return to New Mutants in September

Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz Return to New Mutants for September One-Shot

Legendary creators Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz are reuniting for another shot at their classic collaboration, New Mutants, in September. New Mutants: War Children #1 is the latest in Marvel’s series of 80th-anniversary one-shots that honor legendary creators by bringing them back for one more story set in their classic runs, even though Marvel can’t be bothered to give these creators regular work for reasons no one has ever been able to explain. It’s particularly egregious with Claremont, who Marvel pays to remain exclusive to them while never letting him write anything more than a one-shot or backup story since the 2014 Nightcrawler series.

The one-shot will feature a “never before told story” set in the classic New Mutants era, featuring the team of Magik, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Cypher, Mirage, Karma, and Sunspot. Since Warlock joined the team in New Mutants #21 and Sienkiewicz’ last issue was #38, that puts this story set sometime in between those two.

Marvel media partner Newsarama had the EX-X-XCLUSIVE solicit reveal. Check it out, along with an amazing cover, below.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
