ComiXology Bestseller List, 7th June 2019 – Actually You Are The Walking Dead

Every week I'll post the ranking of every new title, plus a ranking of the best selling volumes & graphic novels. As always, I hope you find it interesting and informative.

You know how much I love you readers? I'm missing the start of the Double XP weekend in Overwatch to write this article. And if I don't get that Riot Police skin for Bridgette my entire life will feel empty. So let's recap this week on the double:

The trifecta of Walking Dead, Batman and Justice League just can't be beat. Seriously, I don't know any other way to talk about their dominance. Marvel events can't break them up, DC zombies can't break them up. They're just locked in.

And DC continues to be locked in to Top 10 victories, this time by a commanding score:

• DC: 33
• Marvel: 12
• Image: 10

Wow, DC is dominating more than my team when I select Mercy… sorry, I still have Overwatch on the mind. Let's move on.

Felicia Hardy has made her debut in her first ongoing series, and the result is… pretty underwhelming. Black Cat landed down in the pits at No. 29 in the New Issue Rankings. And while she doesn't have the same name recognition as Catwoman, Marvel probably didn't do this book any favors by charging $5 for the first issue. It seems more foolish than when our team's Genji rushes into…. sorry. Again.

Marvel can certainly get away with that with X-Men or Spider-Man, but on a character less established? Is that extra dollar a disincentive for digital customers to try it out? Wouldn't it make more sense to price these new titles $3 to rope curious buyers in?

But as much as I love to pretend I'm a business expert (especially yesterday in the Swamp Thing cancellation comment section), I'm really not. So once again I ask the comic book store owners a question: what would you want to see new #1s priced at? Is it better to price them at $5 and get your profit now, or sell them at $3 to get buyers hooked? Or maybe just keep everything the same at $4? What would be best for your business?
