Cullen Bunn's Video Store Horror Anthology, Graveyard Slaughter, Hits Kickstarter

Superstar comic book writer Cullen Bunn has yet another project coming out soon, this one from Lunchbox Press. Bunn will team with writer Kevin Watkins and artists Javier Saltares, Blacky Shepherd, Gary Bedell, and Adam McLaughlin along with letterer Troy Peteri for a new anthology comic book magazine called Graveyard Slaughter. The concept: comics evoking the nostalgic feel of the sort of horror movies you could find at your local video store, back when local video stores were still a thing.

The project is seeking $6,000 in funding on Kickstarter, and it's nearly halfway funded at the time we're writing this. $7 gets a digital copy of Graveyard Slaughter #1, while $15 gets a print copy. Check out the Kickstarter here, and read the press release below.

Graveyard Slaughter is comic book anthology that embraces the bloody madness and nostalgia of 80s VHS gore. Those passionately curated horror sections of the deep dive video rental stores. We invite you to get a membership at our video store…Video Hell. Graveyard Slaughter will be running on Kickstarter all through June. Once funded…we plan on delivering the book by Halloween 2019.

Over 50 terrifying pages of madness co-written by New York Times best-selling author Cullen Bunn and Kevin Watkins. Art provided by legendary Ghost Rider artist, Javier Saltares; rising star Pumpkinhead artist Blacky Shepherd; Gary Bedell and Adam McLaughlin. Letters provided by A Larger World Studios' Troy Peteri. Introduction provided by Bram Stoker Award winning and best-selling author Paul Tremblay.

Cullen Bunn is one of the most prolific writers in comics. His has creator-owned series The Sixth Gun, Shadow Roads, and The Damned for Oni Press; Harrow County and Manor Black for Dark Horse Comics; Pumpkinhead and Vampirella vs ReAnimator for Dynamite; Subspecies for Action Lab; Regression and Unearth for Image; Unholy Grail, Brothers Dracul and Dark Ark for Aftershock Comics. He also ran successful Kickstarter campaigns for his graphic novels Metro and A Passage in Black. He is also known for his work on Uncanny X-Men, X-Men: Blue, Magneto and various insanely popular Deadpool miniseries for Marvel Comics.

Kevin Watkins is the co-owner of Lunchbox Press. He is the writer and co-creator of Listen to the Thunder; a contributing writer to the graphic novel A Passage in Black; and co-creator and co-writer of Graveyard Slaughter.

Javier Saltares is a legend in the comic book industry. He is known for his outstanding 8-year run on Marvel's Ghost Rider. He has also worked for DC, Dark Horse, and IDW.

Blacky Shepherd has stormed the professional comic industry with his outstanding work on Voltron: From the Ashes, Pumpkinhead, and Vampirella vs Reanimator for Dynamite Entertainment.

Gary Bedell is an award-winning illustrator who has worked for Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Fantasy Flight Games, and story board artist for Showtime's movie Above Ground.

Adam McLaughlin is co-owner of Lunchbox Press. He is the co-creator and artist of Listen to the Thunder and Graveyard Slaughter. He was also a contributing artist on A Passage in Black.

A Larger World Studios' Troy Peteri lettered the comic. Troy is a Harvey Award nominated letterer who has lettered comics for Top Cow, IDW, Dynamite, and DC.

Paul Tremblay is a Bram Stoker Award winning and best-selling author who has written A Head Full of Ghosts, Disappearance at Devil's Rock, The Cabin at the End of the World, and the forthcoming Growing Things.
