Billy Dee Williams Shares Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Photos With Some Old Friends

We knew last night’s livestream of Disneyland’s dedication ceremony to open Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was going to be emotional for fans all over the galaxy, but we weren’t expecting some of the surprise guests.

Bob Iger kicked everything off in a very Iger way, and George Lucas showed up, shocking the hell out of everyone. But George was gracious, describing the new expansion to the Anaheim park as like “Star Tours on steroids”. We knew Mark Hamill was going to be involved in the ceremony, but we were NOT expecting to see Billy Dee Williams, who’s kindness and enthusiasm is simply infectious, nor Harrison Ford, who missed his audio cue to give his pal and co-pilot, the late Peter Mayhew, a proper shoutout.

This morning, Billy Dee posted some photos to his Twitter account, sharing the behind-the-scenes moments leading up to the ceremony.

You can watch the entire ceremony if you missed it in the video below.

If you want to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you’ll need to make a stay-reservation at an official Disneyland Resort Hotel between May 31st and June 23rd in order to access the 14-acre new area.
